Did George W. Bush just throw some shade at Donald Trump??
It seems that may be the case! On Thursday, the former President seemingly took shots at Trumpism while giving a speech at the Bush Institute's Spirit of Liberty event in New York. Oh snap!!

During his address, the longtime politician warned attendees to be wary of "conspiracy theories and outright fabrication." Specifically, Bush noted:
"Bigotry seems emboldened. Our politics seems more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright fabrication... Bigotry in any form is blasphemy against the American creed and it means the very identity of our nation depends on the passing of civic ideals to the next generation. We need a renewed emphasis on civic learning in schools... And our young people need positive role models. Bullying and prejudice in our public life sets a national tone, provides permission for cruelty and bigotry, and compromises the moral education of children... The only way to pass along civic values is to first live up to them."
Now, 43 didn't necessarily name Trump, but that remark about bullying was clearly a direct shot at POTUS. Not to mention, hours before Bush's speech, Trump took to Twitter and suggested that Russian officials, the FBI, and the Democratic Party worked together to create dossier about him.

Smh. Anywho, Laura Bush's husband continued:
"When we lose sight of our ideals, it is not democracy that has failed. It is the failure of those charged with protecting and defending democracy. We need to recall and recover our own identity. Americans have great advantage. To renew our country, we only need to remember our values."
Understandably, Twitter is blowing up with responses following Bush's apparent rebuke of the Trump administration. See the best reactions (below)!
Important speech by my friend, President George W. Bush today, reminding us of the values that have made America a beacon of hope for all.

All five living former Presidents came together to form a partnership last month, and now the most conservative of the five – George W. Bush – is taking a calculated but brutal shot at Trump. Something is afoot here behind the scenes. Watch this space.

Not sure how it happened but George W Bush appears to have become the smartest person in the GOP. http://pic.twitter.com/65FOb3LC9Q

So George W. Bush speaks out against racism and conservatives are attacking him for it. Then they wonder why people call them racist.
